David Seaman hopes Jude Bellingham's stunning stoppage-time goal against Slovakia will be a catalyst for England for the remainder of Euro 2024.

Bellingham hit a bicycle kick in the dying seconds of their round of 16 match to force extra time, during which Harry Kane sealed the comeback victory. It was a staggering turn of events after England appeared destined to exit the tournament, which Seaman admits he was already thinking about before Bellingham's intervention.

"Jude Bellingham’s goal for England was incredible," the longtime former England goalkeeper told Betway

"When we were losing, I was thinking Gareth Southgate might resign after the game, but then the goal went in and I celebrated so loudly that I scared the hell out of my wife Frankie!

"It was an amazing goal, and I thought we deserved something out of the game. Slovakia were better than a lot of people realised. They’re a really organised team and they knew they knew how to close off the passing lanes.

"I think some people are taking these teams for granted, expecting them to roll over. They’re not – they’re in the Euros on merit, and they’re playing at the top of their game. Our players aren’t on top of their game, but we know we can play so much better and we’re in another quarter-final. We need to properly start getting behind the team because we’ve still got a really good chance."

Seaman likened Bellingham's strike to a famous Paul Gascoigne goal scored at Wembley Stadium in the mid-1990s, stating that he hopes it will galvanise the team going forward.

"I hope Bellingham’s goal will be a turning point, like Gazza’s against Scotland at Euro 96 (90 seconds after my penalty save!)," he said. "It reminds people of what we’ve got in the team – players that are capable of special moments."
