Aiden McGeady believes the Champions League is up for grabs this season, with Liverpool among the contenders.
The former Everton and Republic of Ireland player still places Real Madrid as the favourites to claim the continental crown, but he puts Liverpool among the clubs that could challenge the Spanish giants for superiority.
Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, McGeady explained that Real Madrid might struggle to find balance with all of their big-name players, and if that happens there are a small number of sides who could claim the title.
"In the Champions League you can’t look past Real Madrid, but then I watched them play against Mallorca the other night and they drew while Mallorca actually looked like the better team in the second-half and could've won the game," McGeady said.
"The fear with me in terms of Real Madrid is it's almost turning into the Galacticos era again a little bit. How do you fit in all those players, those unbelievable players that they've signed in the forward areas?
"But they've got so much experience and Carlo Ancelotti has won everything so many times so I think you can't really see past Real Madrid.
"I don't think Barcelona will really be able to compete with Real Madrid. Manchester City might be the only ones, but then again you might have another upset.
"Liverpool could be contenders the way they have played so far under Arne Slot, so who knows what is going to happen."
