Former Everton player tells Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher to leave clubDAZN

Former Everton star Aidan McGeady believes Caoimhin Kelleher should leave Liverpool.

The goalkeeper has yet to dislodge Alisson’s position as the No. 1 keeper at Anfield, despite stepping in admirably when the Brazilian has been unavailable.

His position looks unlikely to change in the near future, as Liverpool close in on the future signing of Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

That leaves Kelleher needing to move elsewhere to find regular minutes on the pitch,

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds , McGeady said: “Whenever Caoimhin Kelleher has been called upon for Liverpool and Ireland, he's performed very well. It's just that he's got one of the hardest tasks on his hands to get a starting spot ahead of Alisson.

“Alisson is one of the best goalies in the world and it's not as if he’s even that old, so it could be Liverpool for the next five, ten years. But then if you look at Keller's situation, it does put a different perspective on it.

“I think it's absolutely fine to be a number two until a certain time and 25 is not really that old, but by that age you do want to have a major mark on a team somewhere. He has been at Liverpool, but he's never been looked at as a starter.

“So I think it would be important to get game time, but he obviously has to pick the right club and make sure that he will get regular starts.”
