Who will be on Arne Slot's summer shopping list?

Stephen Warnock has named the player he'd like to see new Liverpool boss Arne Slot add to the Anfield ranks this summer.

All eyes will be on where the Dutchman believes his squad needs strengthening as he prepares for his first season in charge after replacing Jurgen Klopp, but the former Reds defender has earmarked who he'd like to see arrive on Merseyside.

Talking to BetVictor, Warnock named Spain's Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo as someone he'd be keen for Liverpool to sign.

He said: “Dani Olmo is such an exciting player. He's so underrated. I do like Olmo because he would add so much quality. But it also depends on the fee that RB Leipzig would expect.

“My only concern with Liverpool signing Olmo is that they already have so many players in that position – Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai.

“They’ve also got youngsters who can come in and they've showcased what they can do as well.

“This is the fascinating thing with the managerial change is that we don't know how Arne Slot sees players in his squad, because Jürgen Klopp and him might have completely different ideas.”

One of Olmo's Spanish teammates has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, but Warnock can't see Nico Williams heading to Anfield and expects the winger to sign for Barcelona.

Adding: “The interesting thing with Nico Williams is that there's been a lot of talk about him moving to Barcelona and we know the pull of Barca and Real Madrid. Barcelona aren’t quite what they were but they’re still a force.

“If I'm being completely honest, I can’t see Williams being at Liverpool next year. I think it will be either Barcelona or possibly Arsenal if that deal is to be done, I might be wrong.

“Liverpool have been linked with Anthony Gordon as well. So they’re obviously looking to strengthen that left-hand side, perhaps where they feel they can raise money from the sale of Luis Diaz. Maybe Diaz isn't the player that Arne Slot wants.”
