Former Liverpool star hails 'remarkable' start by Arne Slot but warns Reds the title is far from wonDAZN

Arne Slot has enjoyed almost a perfect start to his Liverpool tenure, losing just one game so far across all competitions in charge of the club.

The Reds lead the Premier League by seven points and also top their Champions League group, leading to fans believing something special could happen at Anfield this season.

The start has impressed former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant, who admits in an exclusive chat with DAZN News, thanks to Casino Apps, that he had concerns over the Dutchman following in Jurgen Klopp's shoes on Merseyside.

"When Jurgen Klopp left and Arne came in, I'll be honest,  I didn't really know anything about Arne Slot, at all." he said.

"So I was thinking, oh my God, is this another (Erik) Ten Hag situation? All I knew that they came from the same league.

"So I was a little bit sceptical thinking, here we go, the fall of Liverpool and how long it's going to take to rebuild.

"But I don't think any Liverpool fan would have saw this, when the new manager came in. Yes, Jurgen left a great team and a great base to build on,  but he's not made any signings. It's the same team from last year.

"So to come in and do that and get the response from the players as he has done so quickly, playing this way, is next to remarkable, really.

"I'm full credit to him. There will be some players coming in at some stage, too, to suit his style more."

Despite their lead at the top of the league, Pennant is sent a warning of caution to his former side, as there's still a long way to go in the season and there are still situations that could derail Arne Slot's men.

Adding: "There's still a lot of games to go and there's still a lot of big teams to play again. You know, especially as Liverpool have got to go to The Etihad. Arsenal have got to come to Anfield, Liverpool have got to go to Stamford Bridge. So there's some big games there that they've got to get over and conquer.

"Also, I think Liverpool are literally just one injury away from a key player to maybe finding it hard to maintain this kind of performance.

"If it was a tough injury  to Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk, then it will be hard to see how they dominate and be so powerful in games."
