Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes that it was no surprise that England have so far struggled at Euro 2024.

England were unimpressive in their warm-up against Iceland, as they lost 1-0, and after a 1-0 win against Serbia and a 1-1 draw with Denmark, initially high hopes have quickly been recalibrated.

Manager Gareth Southgate has struggled to accommodate Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, and ahead of the game against Slovenia, pressure is increasing on the team.

Silvestre, speaking to bettingexpert.com , believes that England do not have the necessary aggression or tactical cohesion.

He said: “It's a confirmation of what we've seen during the last few months with England. You don't turn up to a tournament and suddenly show your best form. It's in the making. So. It was coming."

“The best teams in this tournament. They've been on the front foot. Very positive, very aggressive going forward and consistent."

"And I would say for England the players have a positive attitude, but as a style of play, in general, it's been too fragmented. There's a lack of consistency in that way.”
