Louis Saha believes new Manchester United signings Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have both made excellent starts to their Old Trafford careers.
Both joined from Bayern Munich shortly before the first round of the new season, and featured in the 1-0 win over Fulham that gave United three points last Friday.
United’s defence was known for being brittle and conceding late regularly last season, but things may now have changed.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Saha explained: “Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui had great debuts. You can see straight away that Manchester United have added some great players to the squad, and especially in defence where they had a lot of problems last year.
“We can see straight away that Mazraoui is very comfortable on the ball and going forward he will create a lot of chances. He can disrupt the midfield opposition too because he can come inside with the ball, a bit like João Cancelo did at Manchester City, or Oleksandr Zinchenko at Arsenal.
“Manchester United struggled a lot last year with injuries at the back so to have the consistency of someone like De Ligt, will help the defence. It’s a great double signing which will help Erik ten Hag’s defence.”
