Arsenal were dominant over the weekend, thrashing West Ham United 6-0 to keep pace in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners are in the midst of a three-team battle with league leaders Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City in the title chase, with all three sides turning up their intensity in recent weeks.
While the North Londoners were in a similar position last season, they ultimately fell short as the Sky Blues claimed the crown for the third consecutive season. Arsenal now look to avoid a similar fate this season, and a former Premier League manager doesn't believe they will be able to do so until they add a very specific piece to their team.
Tim Sherwood, who managed Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in the 2010s, explained how Arsenal are vulnerable against certain strategies, and how a true finisher would help put them over the top in their title ambitions.
"I think when teams go toe-to-toe, Arsenal could beat anyone, when they come out [and attack]," Sherwood said on Sky Sports' Soccer Special.
"It's the teams who sit back and want to go and play anti-football against them, that's when they struggle. That's when they need the poacher, the clinical finisher, the one who gets a scruffy finish [and] gets one in from nothing.
"And all of a sudden the team that wants to play anti-football hasn't got a plan 'B' and has to come out, and they get ripped apart."
Arsenal were linked to several strikers during the recently closed winter transfer window, notably Brentford's Ivan Toney, but ultimately stood pat after an active summer of player signings.
