Darwin Nunez has shown significant improvement in his second season at Liverpool, but the Uruguayan forward’s lack of composure in the box is still a concern to some.

Nunez made a significant contribution from the bench in Liverpool’s recent 2-0 win over Sheffield United, when he provided an assist for Dominik Szoboszlai, but it’s goals that he was purchased for and they’re not coming as regularly as those inside Anfield would like.

Gus Poyet, Nunez’s countryman, is fully aware of what it takes to be a success in the Premier League after memorable spells with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Still a keen follower of the league he excelled in, Poyet has watched Nunez’s Liverpool run with interest and he’s a massive believer of the Uruguayan forward.

“It wasn’t easy to adapt to everything,” said Poyet when speaking exclusively to DAZN via Newbettingoffers.co.uk about Nunez and what it’s like to first come to the Premier League.

“We’re seeing a different Darwin Nunez now. More involved, better in front of goal, and he’s going be that type of player. Because of his power and mobility, he’s going to be in many positions to score.

“Sometimes the pace of the game here is so quick, so you have to make quick decisions and that is also a process.

“With all respect to our idol, Luis Suarez, he [Nunez] is the number one in our team and he’s acting like that. He took that responsibility, he’s the main number nine, and he’s playing in the middle. In Uruguay, he’s a big player.”
