The pressure is on the Red Devils star.
Manchester United's new number nine has been backed by former Scotland striker Ally McCosit ahead of the new campaign.

Rasmus Hojlund has switched to the new shirt number following Anthony Martial's departure from the club, and the emphasis will once again be on the Dane to provide the goals for United this season.

The 21-year-old scored 16 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford, and talking to talkSPORT BET, McCoist believes the young forward must still be given time to improve to help him fulfil his full potential at the club.

He said: “One of the most important things for Manchester United is that Rasmus Hojlund keeps improving. I watched him last season and at the Euros and was a little bit concerned about his level of finishing, but I thought it steadily improved.

“I still don't think he's anything like the finished article and I don't think he will be for at least two or three seasons.

“However, from United's point of view, there has to be a steady improvement in him, and Erik ten Hag will have to rest him at times as well.”
