Teddy Sheringham isn't a fan of how West Ham United have ended their relationship with David Moyes.

Moyes did not sign a new contract following the end of the recently ended season, putting an end to his near five-year run as manager that saw the Hammers win the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023 and earn back-to-back top seven finishes (2020-21, 2021-22) in the Premier League for the first time in club history.

Sheringham believes Moyes' situation could have been handled differently amid a trying campaign that saw the club finish ninth on the league table.

Speaking on behalf of BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 betting, Sheringham said:

“I think David Moyes was treated very harshly and I think West Ham should be careful what they wish for.

“If they get a tough start to the season and they play a few of the top teams and have only three points on the board across the first six or seven games, all of a sudden you’re looking over your shoulder.

“Will [new manager] Julen Lopetegui know how to handle that? David Moyes wouldn’t panic and would know what it takes to get his team out of trouble, so this is going to be a tough test for West Ham this year.”
