Premier League teams do not rank highly.

New research into football transfers has found that Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille are the most profitable club in the world over the last decade.

The CIES Football Observatory has found the top 50 teams in the world with the most positive and negative transfer balances for non-academy players signed and transferred between 2014 and 2023.

Lille have made €386 million from transfer alone since 2013, €69 million more than the next most profitable club, Ajax.

RB Salzburg, AS Monaco and RB Leipzig round out the top five, with Brentford's €99 million profit the highest of all UK-based teams at 26th on the list.

The only other teams from the UK to make the top 50 list are Brighton & Hove Albion and Championship side Swansea City.

At the other end of the scale, La Liga giants Barcelona have the highest losses from transfers across the last decade at an eye-watering €631 million.

Unlike the list of profitable teams, six of the top 10 teams recording losses come from the UK.

Chelsea (€483 million) and Arsenal (€436 million) are second and third respectively, while Manchester United, Aston Villa, Everton and Liverpool also make the top 10.

Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Newcastle United and Manchester City are the other Premier League sides to feature in the top 50.

As do EFL clubs Derby County, Cardiff City, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.
