Wales. Golf. Wrexham?
Retired Welsh superstar Gareth Bale is enjoying his time away from the game that made him famous, often taking to social media to share his latest golfing adventures. Bale still keeps an eye on football, and earlier this week he sent his congratulations to Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney for the team's promotion to EFL League Two after a 15-year absence.
McElhenney, the creator and co-star of the long-running television series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and co-owner of Wrexham with Hollywood A-Lister Ryan Reynolds, shared the video message with his 1 million twitter followers along with an invitation for Bale to join him on the links.
"Hey Gareth Bale let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season," McElhenney's tweet read.
Hours later, Bale responded to McElhenney's light-hearted plea, writing, "Depends what course" along with a golf emoji and with The R&A (organizers of The Open at St. Andrews) tagged.
Bale's last time on a pitch was with Wales late last year, when he scored the team's lone goal at Qatar 2022. Maybe McElhenney's proposal convinces the 33-year-old to dust off the boots?
