Gary Lineker tips surprise team to finish in the Premier League top three

Gary Lineker tips surprise team to finish in the Premier League top threeDAZN
The 2024/25 season is underway.

There may be just two rounds of matches completed in the Premier League, but it already looks like the two contenders for this season's title are clear.

Once again, with two wins from two, defending champions Manchester City and Arsenal seem to be on an inevitable collision course for English football's biggest prize.

But will there be any surprise contenders to challenge them?

Liverpool, who are starting a new era under manager Arne Slot, sit joint top of the league, but former England striker Gary Lineker believes there is another team who could find themselves in the Premier League's top three come the end of the season.

"I think Spurs will do well this season, I thought they did well last season, but one or two big injuries and it cost them," Lineker told DAZN

"I think it’s hard to see anyone challenging City and Arsenal, but we know football can throw up strange things, injuries that could happen. You lose a few key players and then it becomes a bit of a struggle.

"I think Spurs could finish in the top three, if they can keep their players fit, they have got a really good squad.

"I love Postecoglou’s football, it might be a bit risky at times, but it’s entertaining."

Spurs currently sit fifth place and will be looking to get another win when they travel to Newcastle United ahead of the international break.
