Germany get their 2023 FIFA World Cup underway on Monday, when they face Group H rivals Morocco.

The Germans are expected to easily top the group, which also includes South Korea and Colombia. Ranked No. 2 in the world, Germany are one of the favourites to raise the trophy at the end of the tournament, but their recent results show that things may not be so simple for the two-time WWC champions.

Germany lost two of their three most recent friendlies in the lead-up to this tournament, including a 3-2 loss to Zambia in their send-off match, so Morocco will be bolstered by the fact that the European powers are not infallible.

Not that Morocco have shown much better this year — the African side are winless in their last five matches and didn't score a goal during that stretch of games.
