Harry Redknapp names who he thinks should replace Jurgen Klopp, and it's not Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso is the frontrunner to replace Jurgen Klopp when he steps down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, but Harry Redknapp has identified another successor.  

The former West Ham and Spurs boss is a huge fan of Steven Gerrard, and he believes that the Liverpool legend is the perfect fit to enter the Anfield dugout. 

Since starting his managerial career, Gerrard has had some success but his only Premier League job saw him endure a miserable time at Aston Villa.  

Currently coaching in Saudi Arabia, Gerrard would relish the opportunity to manage the club he loves, and Redknapp has provided Gerrard with his backing. 

“I’m going to say somebody, and people are going to think that I’m off my head, but I would give it to Steven Gerrard," said Redknapp when speaking to BetVictor. 

“I know people will say that he was a failure at Aston Villa, and it didn’t go great there, but he’s a Liverpool man and was an incredible player for them.  

“He’s got passion for the game, and I used to listen to him speak when he was at Rangers and always thought he was going to be top drawer. I would love to see him manage Liverpool.”
