Harry Redknapp thinks that Nicolas Jackson could become a ‘top-class’ striker for Chelsea.
Jackson got more game time than perhaps Mauricio Pochettino would have anticipated after Christopher Nkunku’s injury, and there have been times where his profligacy has frustrated his own side’s fans and drawn mockery from others.
However he is into double figures now and Chelsea’s most recent match was a 5-0 victory over London rivals West Ham, with Jackson grabbing a brace.
Former Tottenham manager Redknapp thinks the youngster gets too much criticism, and there could be much more to come.
He told BetVictor: “I think Nicolas Jackson gets a bit too much stick at times. I know he has missed quite a few chances, but he’s still got 13 goals in the league so far and you forget he’s only 22 and in his first year at the club.
“He never stops running and does so much good work in terms of his hold-up play.
“If he can keep working on his finishing, he could develop into a top-class number nine.”
