The Premier League goes into game week five with only one team with a one hundred percent record, with champions Manchester City winning four out of four.
This weekend sees them host last year's runners-up, Arsenal, and Harry Redknapp has given his prediction for the game to BetVictor along with the rest of the Premier League action.
Man City 2-1 Arsenal
Arsenal were without captain Martin Ødegaard and key midfielder Declan Rice and still managed to survive a frantic North London derby. They were celebrating like they’d won the league at the end of the match! I can’t see the same happening against Manchester City.
What were John Stones and Ederson thinking about in the first minute against Brentford? I couldn't believe it! Mind you, when you’ve got Erling Haaland in your squad you can afford to make the odd mistake. Pep Guardiola would have been fuming I’m certain of that.
I’m really looking forward to this one. I love all the drama and romance of Pep v Mikel Arteta. It’s going to round off my Sunday afternoon a treat!
One to watch: Keeper David Raya excelled and managed to keep Tottenham at bay. I think he’s going to be kept on his toes and we’ll see some cracking saves here.
Crystal Palace 2-2 Manchester United
Crystal Palace fans will be breathing a sigh of relief after that victory against QPR in the Cup. They just rescued a draw against Leicester and avoided a third Premier League defeat by the skin of their teeth! I sense a more measured performance at Selhurst Park this Saturday. They certainly have some gifted players who can do the job.
Manchester United seem to be settling down now and I’m so pleased for Marcus Rashford opening his account for the season with his first goal since March. That must be a load off! He slotted a couple in against Barnsley during the week too, I'm glad for him.
Despite a 7-0 win at Old Trafford, I’ve got a feeling that United will be stopped in their tracks against Palace.
One to watch: Alejandro Garnacho is a fantastic player, so hungry for goals, running at defenders like there’s no tomorrow. A real pleasure to watch and always a threat.
West Ham 1-1 Chelsea
West Ham really pushed their luck last week against Fulham. Julien Lopetegui’s last throw of the dice paid off at the death. He’s not got off to the best of starts but Pep Guardiola says we have to give him time, and I’m not going to argue with Pep!
Chelsea just about survived that ruck against Bournemouth. Referee Anthony Taylor handed out more yellow cards than ever before in a Premier League match. Not the sort of records anyone wants to break!
It was nice to see Jadon Sancho getting some minutes and setting up that late winner. Man United fans will be shaking their heads. I see it even-stevens in this London derby.
One to watch: Jarrod Bowen continues to show how influential he is for West Ham and did brilliantly to find Ings in the box in the final minutes against Fulham. He’s the captain for a reason!
Liverpool 2-0 Bournemouth
Well, well, well. Absolutely nobody predicted that result against Nottingham Forest. Welcome to the ups and downs of the Premier League Arne Slot! They soon silenced the critics by going to AC Milan in the week and getting an impressive win in the Champions League. That’ll have them back on track no doubt.
Bournemouth had the bulk of the chances against Chelsea. They constantly tormented their defence, with a couple of efforts denied by the woodwork. It was an exhausting one to watch. Their record signing Evanilson should have scored that penalty!
Slot will want to redeem himself at Anfield and I don’t envisage any errors this week.
One to watch: Mohamed Salah was thwarted by Forest’s Àlex Moreno, but I’ve got a feeling he’ll be back on the scoresheet at home against Bournemouth.
Tottenham 2-0 Brentford
I had high hopes for Tottenham in the North London derby, but their old ghosts returned to haunt them as once again they failed to defend a set-piece against a depleted Arsenal. Ange Postecoglou will need to work on that in training as it keeps on happening. Spurs were a bit wayward with some of their decision making but the flair is definitely there!
Brentford put up a decent fight against Manchester City last week, but it was sad to see Yoane Wissa limping off during the first half. Losing one of your star players for a couple of months is every manager’s worst nightmare. They had a good win in the cup which will lift the team’s spirits at least.
I feel that Spurs have settled down now and will get the home win.
One to watch: Destiny Udogie has been picked to play in every league match so far. He’s also only been booked once which is impressive for a 21-year-old. I like his attitude.
Aston Villa 2-1 Wolves
It was fantastic to see Aston Villa getting back into Europe, I’m so happy for them. 40 years of hurt soon healed, what a win against the Young Boys! Unai Emery and the lads will be on a high after that and I see nothing but a home victory for them.
As I said last week, I worry for Wolves this season. Four winless games in the league so far. The last thing Gary O’Neil wants is a visit to Villa Park. Mind you, there’s enough quality in the squad to dig them out of a hole. I just don’t see the win coming here though.
It’s going to be a very noisy stadium, you mark my words!
One to watch: That Jhon Durán scorcher last weekend was superb, but I’ve got my eye on Ollie Watkins. He’s a quality player and just loves to score.
Fulham 1-1 Newcastle
Fulham are making the headlines for all the wrong reasons! Losing to Championship side Preston North End 16-15 in the longest penalty shootout in Carabao Cup history. It was exciting for the neutrals, but Marco Silva will want to put that right behind him with Newcastle coming to Craven Cottage.
I have to admit that I thought Newcastle were going to struggle with this weaker squad. It’s early days but they’re unbeaten and third in the table and the fans are loving every minute. I’m still not that excited by the Magpies to be honest, yes there’s flashes of individual brilliance like Harvey Barnes last week, but you can’t ride your luck like that week in week out.
I sense a tough meeting with these two sides wearing each other down.
One to watch: Emile Smith Rowe really has the cutting edge, what a great signing this lad is. He proved influential last week against West Ham with some impeccable timing and a fabulous assist.
Brighton 2-1 Nottingham Forest
Brighton looked totally frustrated by Ipswich. They dominated possession but had no clear-cut chances. The players were content to move the ball around and wait for the moment to pounce but that never came! Fabian Hurzeler will be disappointed and will expect an improvement against Nottingham Forest.
Last weekend was a “super subs special” and choc full of late winners! Callum Hudson-Odoi curled in an inch-perfect shot into the far bottom corner. Alisson didn’t have a chance. I can’t say I see that happening again anytime soon.
Both these teams are level on points with Brighton edging it on goal difference. Those fine margins count! I see the home side nicking it.
One to watch: Joël Veltman put in a solid performance once again and kept that vital clean sheet. What a reliable player he is.
Leicester 1-1 Everton
Is it me or am I getting a feeling of déjà vu with Everton? To squander a 2-nil lead once is worrying but twice on the bounce will set those alarm bells ringing. Then to top off the nightmare, they lose to Southampton on penalties in the Cup!
Leicester surprised me with that result against Crystal Palace, but they couldn’t hold on to their lead. There is no point coming out all guns blazing to then throw everything away, Steve Cooper said it felt like a defeat and I don’t blame him.
I still have faith in Sean Dyche to turn things around and I see them getting a vital point here.
One to watch: Jamie Vardy the veteran frontman is still banging them in. Boy, has he got some energy, and the home fans love him.
Southampton 1-1 Ipswich
Southampton may not have got a single point in the league just yet, but that penalty shoot-out win against Everton in the Carabao Cup would have given the team a mighty boost. They started well against Manchester United, but the penalty miss saw them drop off completely. It was all downhill from there.
It wasn't always pretty but Ipswich nullified Brighton and not many teams are able to do that! The wait for a first Premier League win goes on but that could prove to be a hugely valuable point come the end of the campaign. They are extremely strong in defence but struggle to create chances.
I’m sitting on the fence with this one. They’ll cancel each other out.
One to watch: One notable bright spot for Southampton is Tyler Dibling. The 18-year-old midfielder was a menace to the Man United defence in the first half and put in another great performance against Everton.
