For the third time in 2023, Inter Milan have defeated rivals AC Milan.
While every derby victory is an important one, the Nerazzurri's most recent win is the biggest one of the campaign thus far as they ran out 2-0 winners on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
The goals came just three minutes apart as Inter rode a dominant first half to the victory, with Edin Dzeko's eighth-minute opener followed closely by a Henrikh Mkhitaryan strike. The Nerazzurri looked to have a great chance to go up by three goals before the halftime whistle after they had been awarded a penalty just after the half-hour mark, but the spot-kick was overturned by a VAR review.
It made little difference in the end as the Rossoneri, acting as the home team in Wednesday's first leg, didn't manage to register a shot on target until the second half as Inter cruised to a victory that sets them up nicely for next week's second leg.
The winner of the Milan vs. Inter semi-final will advance to face the winner of Real Madrid vs. Manchester City, which is tied 1-1 after the first leg.
