<p>Japan look to book their spot in the knockout stages of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with a victory against Costa Rica on Wednesday.</p>

<p>The Japanese were big winners in their opening match, running up a 5-0 scoreline against WWC debutantes Zambia. They now face a Costa Rican side that were on the opposite end of a high-scoring opening match, as they lost 3-0 to Spain and need at least a point in Wednesday's match to keep their tournament hopes alive.</p>
