Former Liverpool winger John Barnes believes that Manchester United have not given Erik ten Hag enough authority to succeed at the club.
Many players have stayed on at United, including Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial, with many reports suggesting that Ten Hag had wanted to move on that pair in the summer, along with others.
Another fallout has been with Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford is reportedly dissatisfied too.
Speaking to Genting Casino , Barnes said that the Dutchman should have been given more power to make changes.
He said: “When Manchester City, Arsenal or Liverpool change the team, they do so because the manager has complete faith and power.
“Manchester United need to empower their manager – they haven’t given ten Hag that power. Until the Manchester United leadership say, ‘we’re not going to accept bad performances and players not giving 100%,’ then nothing will change at the club.
“Liverpool went through a similar malaise until Jürgen Klopp arrived.”
