Former Manchester United defender Jonathan Spector has identified the key areas in which he believes the club should look to strengthen over the summer.
United, under new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his newly built recruitment team, are expected to be busy in the close season as they partake in their first transfer window at the club.
While the departure of several prominent players from Old Trafford is a possibility, the club is also keen on bolstering the squad following a lacklustre campaign this season.
Spector, speaking exclusively to DAZN via Joe Fortune, the home of NRL 2024 odds, believes that the team needs strengthening in all areas of the squad.
"If I’m honest, I think both ends of the pitch are areas that need improvement," the ex-defender said.
"I had a look at the table and looking at their goal difference compared to the other teams around them, they’re not scoring at the same rate and they’re conceding a lot, so across the board there are areas to improve at both ends of the pitch.
"Onana has had some shaky moments, I’d love to see him given more time, but in that position, you need a really high degree of consistency which hopefully he can show that next season as he certainly hasn’t shown that this season.
"I really like Kieran Trippier as a full-back and his profile. I really like him as a player and I think he could add a lot to United at right back. He’s just one player that comes to mind, but he’s a player that I’ve always liked and always enjoyed watching.
"If I could pick anyone and was the magic wand, it would be Mbappe. I’d love to see him in the Premier League for sure, and definitely at Manchester United."
