The Merseyside derby is a chance for both sides to grab an important three points in the race for the Champions League spots.
Liverpool sits in sixth place on 40 points after 24 games, while Everton are a place and three points behind with a game in hand.
A win for Everton would have to be won by double figures before they went ahead on goal difference, but would give them the advantage of an extra game to play to overtake their city rivals.
Everton have just one win and three losses in their last five league games, while Liverpool have one more win in their recent form. Jurgen Klopp recently ruled his side out of the title race but both Merseyside clubs remain in contention for a top-four finish.
Liverpool won in midweek, 2-0 against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, but a 3-1 defeat to Leicester City last weekend should have them shorn of confidence, giving Everton a rare chance of a win at Anfield.
