Pep Guardiola called Phil Foden the best player in the Premier League earlier this week, and now a former player for Manchester City's biggest rival is adding to the chorus of praise for the 23-year-old.
Louis Saha, who played for Manchester United and several other Premier League sides during his career, was effusive in describing Foden's qualities when asked about the City star following his brace in the Manchester derby last weekend.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Saha said Foden is keeping another England international off the pitch and has the potential to be even better despite already surpassing his career high for goals scored in a season.
“Phil Foden has shown great quality and consistency [this season] and this seems like he’s played more games than in previous years," Saha said.
"He’s pretty much benched Jack Grealish and creativity wise, he’s been more composed.
“Looking at the league, he’s one of the best players but there’s still room for him to improve and score more goals. He’s got competition with Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne and they’re the calibre of players we want to see him play with and he's on the verge of doing that.
“He’s got the ability to always remain completely calm, it’s amazing! He scored two great goals against Manchester United and it’s painful to see so much talent in that Man City side – it's unbelievable.”
