Manchester City and Chelsea appeared to be headed to extra time to decide their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday, but Bernardo Silva scored in the 84th minute to put the Sky Blues into the final.

Silva finished off a City move spearheaded by Kevin De Bruyne, who drove to the byline and crossed the ball into a congested Chelsea goalmouth. The ball struck Chelsea goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović before falling fortuitously to a wide-open Silva, who side-footed a shot off a Chelsea defender and into the net to give his side a 1-0 victory.

But while Silva was the hero on the day, he gave credit to his teammate for creating the opportunity to score the match-winner

"It's the usual Kevin De Bruyne movement," Silva told BBC One. "You try to put numbers in the box to increase your chances of scoring. I'm lucky the ball dropped there."

The victory came just days after City were eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid via a penalty shootout in the quarter-final round, ending their dreams of another treble. For Silva, the quick return to a winning ways is the best method to deal with disappointment in midweek.

"Very happy after a very frustrating week for all of us, for me personally," he said. "The good thing is in football at Man City, you play every three days. Every three days you have the chance to put things right and now we have a chance to win another trophy."
