If it feels like Manchester City and Chelsea just finished playing each other, it's because they did.
The teams met up on Thursday at Stamford Bridge for a Premier League match, with City claiming a 1-0 victory. Now, just three days on, they face off again in the third round proper of the FA Cup — this time at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, where Chelsea have lost in five of their last six visits.
For City, this will be the first of two cup fixtures this week as they will also face Southampton in a Carabao Cup quarterfinal on Jan. 11. On paper, the match against the Saints should be the easier of the two as Southampton are dead last in the Premier League following five straight league losses, while Chelsea are firmly in the midtable.
That could mean that the Sky Blues elect to use a stronger roster on Sunday.
