Manchester City and Tottenham meet on Thursday after both sides lost to their respective local rivals over the weekend.
The Sky Blues fell 2-1 to Manchester United on Saturday in a match that turned in the Red Devils favour thanks to a pair of late goals within a four-minute span. A day later, Spurs were run ragged by Arsenal in the North London Derby, with Tottenham looking every bit the second-best side in a 2-0 Gunners victory.
Now both teams look to regroup in this midweek fixture, which is technically a Matchday 7 game as it was rescheduled from its earlier date. Regardless, the teams each find themselves in urgent need of a boost with City having fallen further behind Arsenal in the title race (and just one point above both Newcastle and United) and Spurs continuing to lose ground in the chase for a Champions League spot.
For Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski, the players themselves need to find a way to be more competitive after earning just two wins in their last five Premier League matches.
"Now, we have a lot of responsibility as players after Arsenal but we’re going to go to City on Thursday, we’re going to do our best and we’re going to do the work that we need to do,” he said.
