Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Ajax for Brazilian winger Antony.

Over the last week the 22-year-old had made it clear that he wanted to leave the club to be reunited with Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag had managed Antony at Ajax before he took over as manager this summer at United.

“Manchester United has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony, subject to a medical, player terms being finalised, and international clearance,” a statement read on the United website.

Antony had been long rumoured as a target for Ten Hag as he looked to rebuild the club and add a right-sided winger to the squad following the departure of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.

The player is the club’s fourth signing under the Dutchman, joining Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro as a new player.

The club have had a mixed start to the season, losing their opening two games before beating Liverpool and then Southampton.

They are also linked with a move for a right-back, another striker as Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to leave, and Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
