Manchester United's roller-coaster of a season continues on Sunday as they host Brighton at Old Trafford.

After an impressive point at Anfield and then knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup, Ruben Amorim's men needed a late, late Amad Diallo hat-trick to see off bottom-placed Southampton in midweek as their performances continue to frustrate the new boss and fans alike.

The Seagulls head to Old Trafford, having won on both of their previous two visits and having finally grabbed their first league victory since November by beating Ipswich on Thursday.

Fabian Hurzeler's men are currently 9th in the table, three places and five points ahead of United.

Manchester United vs. Brighton: Head-to-head and recent statistics

  • All-time meetings: 34
  • Manchester United wins: 21
  • Draws: 5
  • Brighton wins: 8

There have only been 34 meetings between the two sides, but unsurprisingly, United have the upper hand in the fixture.

The Seagulls have had the upper hand more recently, however, winning five of the last six meetings.

Manchester United vs Brighton: What the managers are saying

"We have to improve in all areas of our game. It was like a simple header [against Southampton] and sometimes when you are in the moment, it feels like everything is against you."

Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton

“We have two games in a row now.

“There's not a lot of time to rest, and therefore, we have to take care of the health of the players.

“We have to find the right balance — who can play two games and who can only play one game from the beginning?

“We always make the decisions together with the medical department.”

Manchester United vs. Brighton: Prediction

It's impossible to predict what Manchester United will turn up from game to game, while Brighton's inconsistency makes it a tough one to call.
