The Premier League side could recruit next month.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino gave an update on his club’s transfer policy for the upcoming window.

From January, clubs can sign and register players for the rest of the season, and with the struggles at Stamford Bridge continuing despite a summer of heavy spending, the London club have been linked with a number of players.

One such player is Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, and another is Brentford striker Ivan Toney who is due to return from his betting ban.

However, reports suggest that Todd Boehly will not necessarily spend as freely as he has in the past two windows, and there could be player sales to fund any particularly large transfers.

On Saturday, Chelsea won 3-2 at Luton, and they are now in 10th place in the league. A second-half improvement might see them with an outside chance of landing a Champions League spot, though the Europa League or Europa Conference League is probably more likely.

Speaking after the club’s win, Pochettino described the approach the club will take in January.

"Always we have very good communication," he said. "We are not worried about that. We are going to assess now, we have a few days and we will start the transfer window.

"We will talk and see if we need to do something or not.

"The most important [thing] is to work with the squad, it is only now pushing them to step up, recovering players, that is my focus, 100% to try to improve our squad and the players that we have."
