The former Stoke man had his say.

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen believes that Jadon Sancho would have preferred Erik ten Hag to have been sacked over the summer.

Sancho was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of last season following a dispute between the winger and the Dutchman.

However, it appears both parties have decided to to mend their relationship ahead of the new campaign, and unless a serious offer comes in for the winger, he appears in the frame to relaunch his Old Trafford career.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Owen thinks Sancho might be disappointed that Ten Hag was not given the boot after ending the season under pressure.

He said: “Jadon Sancho took a really risky move in many ways but almost an unavoidable one in going back to where he was to try to reignite that spark, and he's done particularly well.

“I'm sure he probably would have preferred there to have been a change of manager at Old Trafford so it was a clean slate and he could come back and hopefully start again.

“I don't know what his future holds, but he's certainly gone away and proven that he can still cut it at the top level.”
