York City hit six, Barnet stumble, Ebbsfleet held - This weekend's National League round-up on DAZNDAZN

The 2024-25 National League season is live on DAZN around the globe right now, and supporters enjoyed a smorgasbord of action across the weekend.

With plenty of games still forced off by the weather, it was not quite the full slate of fixtures as promised, but there was still no shortage of drama to enjoy.

York City bounced back in style, Barnet stumbled near the summit and Ebbsfleet United remain trapped in the midst of a tough-nosed relegation battle.

Here, DAZN looks back at the feature games in the National League this weekend.

Minstermen hit six to go back top

A 3-0 defeat midweek to Altrincham was not on the cards for York City, but they wasted little time in making amends with a sensational 6-2 victory over Maidenhead United.

Ollie Pearce's first-half double got the ball rolling before Tyrese Sinclair and Ashley Nathaniel-George made it four just past the half-hour mark.

Despite goals for Shawn McCoulsky and Sam Barratt, a red card for United's Alan Massey summed up their day as Adam Crooks and Luca Thomas piled on the misery.

Bees stung in goalless encounter

Having overhauled York to take the summit before the weekend, Barnet knew a victory would keep them ahead of the chasing Minstermen - but it was not to be in the end.

A 0-0 draw with Hartlepool instead saw them stutter and drop from the summit on goal difference, despite both them and City having 44 points so far this term.

Neither side has a game in hand, though third-place Forest Green Rovers, just two points behind them both, do have a spare match, to set up a fascinating festive period.

Pilgrims boost hopes of journey to survival

A bottom-four clash likely provided one of the best chances of the season for Ebbsfleet United to find something to cheer about - but they still couldn't muster their way to a win.

The Fleet were held to a scoreless draw with Boston United, one place and six points above them in the battle for survival, in another telling blow to their hopes of staying afloat.

Jai Rowe arguably offered the best chance of the day for the latter with a late header, but the hosts scrambled to keep it out and ensure they at least salvaged a point from the day.
