Barnet held, Rovers miss chance, Maidenhead rally - Boxing Day's National League round-up on DAZNDAZN

The 2024-25 National League season is live on DAZN around the globe right now, and supporters tucked into plenty of action with their turkey and trimmings.

Boxing Day has always served up a festive feast of football, and there was certainly no shortage to devour in the fifth tier of English football on this special day.

There were contrasting fortunes at both ends of the table however, with Barnet and Forest Green Rovers missing prime chances, and Maidenhead giving themselves a shot in the arm.

Here, DAZN looks back at the feature games in the National League this weekend.

Bees leave it late in six-goal thriller

It is Barnet who sit at the top of the table after all of the action over the bank holiday, but they left it late to salvage a point in a 3-3 draw with Sutton United.

Goals for Ryan Glover and Adebola Oluwo cancelled out Ashley Nadesan's opener for the hosts, before Will Davies and Besant Topalloj put the visitors back on top.

But nine minutes into stoppage time, after Mark Shelton had hit the post, Glover scored a strike to earn a point and lift them clear of York City at the summit.

Rovers slip up in promotion pursuit

Just behind the leaders, Forest Green Rovers are banking on a swift return to the Football League - and they could do without results like this one they found under the tree.

Victory would have sent them to the top of the table in a congested race, and a goal for Kyle McAllister in the first half had them on the way to success too.

But Dan Creaney struck a header off a long throw from Tom Tonks two minutes into stoppage time, to ensure the spoils were shared and Rovers remain outside the top two.

McCoulsky brace gives Magpies hope

At the other end of the table, Maidenhead United have been in need of some good fortune as they bid to escape the relegation places - and a  late present gives them hope.

Shawn McCoulsky starred as the Magpies handed a 3-1 loss to Wealdstone, scoring the opener with a neat finish, and adding a second after the interval.

Alex Reid netted in-between, before Craig Eastmond was shown a red for a challenge on Reece Smith, who added Maidenhead's third shortly after in the second half.
