Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday hoping to replicate a performance similar to the last time these two teams met at St. James' Park.
The Magpies were big winners in this fixture last season, claiming a 6-1 victory against the visiting Spurs. The match was highlighted by the opening 21 minutes, in which Newcastle poured in five goals to put the result well beyond doubt early on.
As fun as that game was for Newcastle, this season presents a different picture as Tottenham have the inside track on a Champions League berth while the Magpies can only realistically hope for a sixth-place finish at best.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe says that, while he would love a similar result to last year's contest at St. James' Park, he knows that Tottenham present a much different challenge this time around.
"It was a memorable game and opening part of the match but this is a totally different Tottenham now," Howe said. "They've played very well this year and I admire them tactically and physically.
"Ange [Postecoglou] deserves big credit for how his philosophy has been implemented and the speed that it has."
