Gareth Southgate could be in high demand this summer as the England national team manager has been linked to numerous big Premier League clubs.
The most persistent rumour has Southgate replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United after the conclusion of Euro 2024, but Chelsea became another high-profile team in the market for a new head coach after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino last week.
Former Scotland player and football executive Pat Nevin doesn't believe Southgate would be a good fit at Chelsea, however.
Speaking to Spin Genie, Nevin drew comparisons between Southgate and former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, who lasted less than a season at Stamford Bridge prior to Pochettino's tenure.
"Gareth Southgate to Chelsea? To be honest, I couldn’t see it," Nevin said. "I think Graham Potter is very similar to Southgate, there’s lots of styles they have in common and their personalities are pretty similar.
"I’d look at the previous Potter situation and I think Gareth would not like the way that turned out. I think if Gareth has a great Euros, he will have a choice: either stay on with England or get another job - and I don’t think Chelsea will be in the running.
"Chelsea won’t be the top choice as Gareth likes to have control and those at Stamford Bridge don’t allow that at the moment."
