Manchester United must move on Antony and other players Ruben Amorim does not believe in, according to former Red Devils man Paul Parker.

The woes continued at Old Trafford on Sunday as the hosts fell to a Brighton and Hove Albion side in rich form on their turf with a 3-1 win to leave them 13th in the table.

Amorim suggested his team were the worst in club history afterwards, with several underperforming stars tipped for the exit, though only Marcus Rashford seems primed to go.

Speaking to Japan-101.com, Parker however had one name at the top of his list, stating that the underperforming Brazil international should be the first one shown the door.

"I think that Antony or any player like that the manager that manager doesn’t believe in has to go," he said.

"They’ve got a young manager in that has proved himself at a big club in Portugal, come in with his own ideas and they’ve got him in for a reason very quickly and they have to back him on the players he wants to work with.

"And the ones that he doesn’t want to work with, or the ones that he knows aren’t going to suit him at any time in his tenure, you have to get them out.

"Because they’re not going to conform to anything, they already know they’re not going to have any great involvement.

"If they’re there for too long, resentment will build up. Antony is 1,000s of miles from home, his ego is going to mean he wants to play.

"Everything thing about him, he’s missing adulation, but being around at Manchester United and not being involved is not a good thing and it will wear on him, as I know too well. So any player of that ilk, the manager is going to want him to move on.

"He’s not going to get a lot in the transfer market, and he’s going to have to take a loss on the fee paid, but hopefully, he can get a little bit to build towards something that he wants."

United are back in action on Thursday when they host Rangers in the Europa League before a trip to Fulham in the Premier League next weekend.
