The chase for the Premier League title continues to be a two-team affair, as Arsenal and Manchester City have set the standard for the rest of the league.
The Gunners enter the weekend with a five-point cushion over City thanks to a 4-0 thrashing of Everton on Wednesday. That match puts Arsenal and the Sky Blues on level footing in terms of matches played, so there's no more need for extra math(s) when assessing the title race.
Just behind the two front-runners are Manchester United, who do have one fewer game played to date and are six-points behind their local rivals. The Red Devils are on solid footing for a Champions League spot and will continue to wait for the top two to slip up and open the door for a third team to join the title race.
Rounding out the top four are Tottenham, who have taken advantage of a recent slump by Newcastle to climb back into the Champions League places. Spurs have found a bit more consistency of late, and will need to continue to do so if their are to fend off the Magpies for that cherished (and lucrative) fourth-place finish.
