He's scored in four straight games.

There's no better birthday present for a footballer than scoring the winning goal in a Premier League match.

That was the case for Rasmus Hojlund, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Sunday with Manchester United's first goal in a 3-0 victory over West Ham United.

The goal was Holjund's fourth of 2024 and gives him one in each of the last four games in all competitions. Additionally, Holjund has struck in five of Man United's last seven matches, a stark turnaround from the goal drought that marked the beginning of his time at Old Trafford.

Hojlund's 23rd-minute marker helped the Red Devils leapfrog West Ham in the standings, and for Hojlund it was the best possible way to mark a milestone day.

"I got my present in the morning and now I got an even bigger one so I am happy!" he told BBC Match of the Day.

While much had been made of Hojlund's struggles to adapt to life in the Premier League after a big-money move from Serie A side Atalanta over the summer, the Dane always maintained confidence in himself to start finding the net with more regularity as time went on.

For Hojlund, it was all about being as involved in matches as possible.

"It has always been there, I have always believed in myself, it has just been about getting the rhythm going," he said. "You get one goal, then two and get a bit of momentum and start linking up with the players.

"I spoke with my team-mates and manager because we need to make each other better, that is what it is about. I want to be involved as much as possible.

"I also worked a lot on myself, I looked at my game and what I could improve. I think I have developed a lot since I've been here."
