Former Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen believes "many strikers" would top the Premier League Golden Boot race if they played for Manchester City, including Ollie Watkins.
Erling Haaland has topped the goal scoring charts in England's top flight in each of the two seasons he's been employed by City and he's off to another hot start with four goals from the first two league matches of the season so far. The 24-year-old holds the Premier League record for goals in a season and is on pace to surpass the mark during the current campaign, but Meulensteen thinks Watkins and others would also benefit from playing alongside the Sky Blues' array of stars if given the chance.
"The issue with the Golden Boot is that many strikers would score the most goals if they had Erling Haaland’s place in the Manchester City team, Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa for instance," Meulensteen told Gambling Zone.
"Having said that, Haaland is that kind of a striker that has only one thing in his mind - just to score goals.
"City will keep providing and no one can stop him from winning that Golden Boot again."
