Alan Stubbs believes stability is the most important factor new ownership can bring to Everton.
It is expected that The Friedkin Group will soon take over the reins from Farhad Moshiri once all the regulatory bodies have given their approval on the sale, and former Everton player Stubbs thinks the club will be able to move forward one the transaction is complete.
The Toffees have withstood a tumultuous couple of years as the ownership saga has dragged on, with Moshiri agreeing to sell to another group last year only to have that deal fall through. The club were hit with two separate points deductions last season due to breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules, which combined with poor play on the field to threaten their place in the top flight.
This season hasn't started much better, with Everton having claimed just five points from their first seven matches as they once again flirt with relegation, causing some questions to be asked of manager Sean Dyche's job security.
All of this has lead to a chatoic environment at the club, and Stubbs says the new owners, who also own Serie A side AS Roma, can bring much-needed order when they take over.
"We’re all waiting for the Premier League to give the takeover the green light, but everything seems positive and hopefully the club can move forward with a sense of optimism when the deal is ratified in eight to twelve weeks," he told BestBettingSites.com.
"The football club needs stability, and they will bring that. That’s the most important thing first and foremost and then you have a foundation to build on. There has been a lot of uncertainty behind-the-scenes, Dyche has alluded to that, and the fans have been left in the dark to a certain extent."
Stubbs explained that the best way to attain stability is to provide a clear plan for success, which he believes the incoming owners will do.
"The club needs leadership from the top because at the moment there isn’t any," he said. "The guy who’s acting CEO at the moment is Mr. Chong, and he’s been put there by default. He was initially looking after the stadium project, and everyone has gone so he’s had to step in there.
"Once they get in and find their feet, start to implement their business plan, I think Everton fans will want to see what their vision is."
