England could not hold on to an early lead on Thursday and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Denmark, which was the second straight middling performance by Gareth Southgate's side at Euro 2024.

The Three Lions are still on top of Group C with one group match remaining, but the manner of their results have been concerning for those watching an England squad who entered the tournament as one of the favourites to win the whole thing.

Speaking on the BBC immediately following Thursday's disappointing draw, retired Three Lions defender Rio Ferdinand explained what he thinks is the biggest issue bothering England through the first two matches of the competition.

Ferdinand believes Southgate has some players in the wrong spots on the field.

"The current balance of the team is not allowing the players to reach the levels that they have done for clubs," Ferdinand said.

"Phil Foden is out of position and not playing his best, maybe Jude Bellingham would be better playing at number eight.

"It is a big concern."
