He has been brilliant in Germany.

Robbie Savage believes Harry Kane would have made not difference to Manchester United’s season so far.

Kane was sold by Tottenham to Bayern Munich as he left in search of trophies, and has been the Germans’ star player so far.

By contrast, Rasmus Hojlund moved to Old Trafford from Atalanta and is yet to score a single Premier League goal.

Savage, however, puts the blame on the players behind the striker.

Speaking to Planet Sport Bet , he said: “When it comes to where Manchester United would be this season if they had signed Harry Kane, I think you have to look at how many chances they actually create for their strikers. Everybody was saying that if United signed Kane and Declan Rice then they’d be pushing for the Premier League title, but you have to consider the stats around how many chances they actually create.

“The strikers for United so far this season have been Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Hojlund, and they’ve only got three league goals between them! You have to wonder how many chances Kane would actually get and whether he’d be able to score as many goals as he’s done for Bayern Munich. The fact that their strikers have only scored three league goals between them tells me that United simply aren’t creating enough chances.

“I think Kane was right to go to Bayern because he’s now got an opportunity to win trophies in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. Obviously, he is a better number nine than anyone United have right now, but I think he would have been frustrated in that team with the lack of chances created. I don’t think they would have been better with Kane because they’re not creating chances for their strikers anyway.”
