The Saudi Pro League is now full of some of the biggest names in football.
Up and down the league, some familiar faces are taking football in the Middle East to the next level.
In this series we'll be profiling the best of them, as DAZN looks at the superstars of the Saudi Pro League, and this week it's Aleksandar Mitrovic.
What's the story before Saudi?
The Serbian made his name for Anderlecht, scoring 44 goals in 90 games for the Belgian club before hitting the age of 20.
It was enough to persuade Newcastle of his striking talent and they brought the forward to England in 2015. There was clear promise from the big, powerful hitman during his time on Tyneside, but it was a move to Fulham where we saw the best of Mitrovic in English football.
Twice his goals helped the Cottagers win promotion to the Premier League, breaking a second tier record in 2022 by netting 43 goals in one campaign. He carried that form into the top flight and finally proved he could score at the highest level, hitting double figures in his final season in West London.
How did he move to the Saudi Pro League?
The summer of 2023 was the Saudi Pro League teams target some of the biggest names in Europe and tempt them to come to the Middle East, and it was Al-Hilal who set their sights on Fulham's star.
The reported club record £50 million bid was too good to turn down and Mitrovic who had signalled his intent to leave Craven Cottage, joined the likes of Neymar and Ruben Neves at the Saudi club.
The Saudi story so far...
Neymar may have been the headline signing for Al-Hilal in recent seasons, but it's been Mitrovic who's been the standout star.
In his first Saudi Pro League campaign, he netted 40 goals in 43 games and won both the league title and the Kings Cup.
This season, he's carried on in the vein and already notched 19 goals in 20 games as the league's top-scorer.
