Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Teddy Sheringham has mixed views towards the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the club's manager.
It is safe to say it was a chaotic time for Spurs when it came to the managerial position last season. First there was Antonio Conte who lost all enthusiasm as the campaign progressed before leaving by mutual consent in March.
Then there was Cristian Stellini who was in charge for just over a month before a 6-1 loss to Newcastle United in late April which saw Ryan Mason take charge for the rest of the season, but even he could not land a UEFA Champions League spot come the end of the 2022/23 campaign which saw Spurs finish eighth and without any European football.
Now a new era is underway in North London after Postecoglou was appointed Spurs manager in June in what will be the biggest job of his managerial career.
But while some stability has finally been restored on the coaching side, there are some Spurs fans who have mixed feelings towards a manager whose only real success came during his time with Celtic in a league which many deem as low level compared to the Premier League.
These mixed views are also shared by Sheringham, who believes that Postecoglou will need to adjust quickly to the differences between Scotland and England's top flights, but that will not stop the former England international from giving his full support to the 57-year-old.
"Like a lot of Tottenham fans, I wasn’t so sure about the appointment," Sheringham told Lord Ping .
"He has a great reputation but there’s respectfully a big difference between playing expansive football against the likes of Inverness and Hibernian and doing it with Tottenham taking on the likes of Manchester City. It’s going to be a tough ask.
"Postecoglou’s appointment will certainly be no worse than the last two or three managers that we’ve had at the club. The last three appointments have gone down the stable route, playing pretty dire football. I’m absolutely going to give Postecoglou my full support."
