Teddy Sheringham sets Tottenham a tough target for the rest of the season

He wants more from Ange Postecoglou's men.

Former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham believes that the club should be targeting a top four finish and a domestic trophy.

Ange Postecoglou has impressed so far with his new club, and they sit in fifth place, just three points off fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table.

They put an end to a poor run when they beat Newcastle United in their last match, and hopes are high that they can build on the three points to challenge the top sides over the rest of the season.

Speaking to the Gambling Zone Sheringham, who enjoyed two spells with the club, said that the Champions League spots are the real prize.

He said: “A great season would see Tottenham get into a Champions League spot and win the FA Cup. That would be a great season. You can’t ask for more than that.

“Winning the FA Cup on its own would be a great season, but the club will be looking at the financial rewards qualifying for the Champions League brings, which allows you to bring in better players.

“I don’t think it would be realistic for people to expect Tottenham to win the league this season. They’ve lost some key players this season that has taken its toll on the team’s results recently.

“You can’t carry on without your best players and expect to be up at the top of the league and challenging at the end of the season. I don’t think the squad is big enough or good enough to challenge for the title this season.”
