While he hasn't confirmed it yet, the Mohamed Salah farewell tour as a member of Liverpool appears to be in full swing.

On Sunday, Salah and the Reds celebrated a massive victory as they defeated visiting Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield, with the 32-year-old assisting Cody Gakpo's opening goal in the 12th minute before scoring the game's second goal from the penalty spot late in the second half.

It was as much as symbolic win as it was a result that boosted Liverpool to nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table, as Salah and the Reds have so often battled with Pep Guardiola's Sky Blues for league supremacy and are now the clear-cut best side in the English top flight thanks in big part to the Egyptian forward's contributions.

For Salah, the high of defeating the four-time defending title holders at home was shared between the team and the fans, whom he praised for helping lift the side over their rivals.

"The fans were behind us from the first minute," salah told Sky Sports. "I'm glad we managed to win the game, we know that City are going to come [at us]."

"It's very special," he added, regarding the Anfield atmosphere. "I don't take it for granted. I'm enjoying every minute here. It feels like home. It's always special feeling always scoring at Anfield and winning games."

Salah's introspection is understandable given the very real possibility that this is his final season as a Liverpool player. With reported offers from clubs throughout Europe and Saudi Arabia, the prolific attacker will remain a force to be reckoned with for years to come, but it's looking more likely that he'll wear the colours of a different club next season.

As such, Salah admitted that Sunday's contest could have been the last time he faced the Sky Blues — at least as a Liverpool player.

"Honestly it's in my head," he said. "Until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here.

"Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen."
