There are nine points and three places on the table that separate Manchester City from Totteham ahead of their clash on Sunday, but the teams do have something in common: world-class strikers.
Second-place City are just five points back of league-leading Arsenal, and they're led by the exceptional goal-scoring prowess of Erling Haaland. On the other side of the field are fifth-place Spurs and Harry Kane, the longtime England attacker who continues to be one of the best in the sport.
While the teams are pursuing different objectives this season, their prodigious strikers are a common thread, said City boss Pep Guaridola. Kane's lack of silverware isn't an indictiment of his quality, Guardiola noted.
"We are extremely happy with Erling Haaland and of course I think Tottenham are extremely happy with Harry Kane," he said.
"What an exceptional player. What Harry Kane has done is amazing, the goals, the quality he has.
"Harry Kane remains one of the best strikers I have seen in my life. Not even winning. It doesn’t matter.
"It’s like with managers. There are incredible, incredible managers that do not win titles, they are bad managers because they don’t win the title? No. Sometimes it happens."
