The 13th edition of the UEFA Women's Champion's League is set, with a 16-team group stage included in the competition for the first time.
It's part of an overall expansion of the competition that includes a global broadcasting partnership with DAZN, which will cover every match under the new format.
Defending champions Barcelona look to hold on to the trophy, although they will face a serious challenge from seven-time winners Lyon, along with recent finallists Chelsea, Wolfsburg and PSG. The expanded group stage allows for increased competition from lesser known clubs alongside the global powers, and as usual there will be surprises along the road to the final in Turin.
Another pair of key changes to the 2021-22 tournament are the abolition of the away goals rule and the usage of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for every match in the knockout stage.
