The United States men's national team is trying to make its second final in a four-week span as it faces Panama on Wednesday.
The teams square off in the first of two semi-finals for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. Last month saw the USMNT claim the Concacaf Nations League title with a 2-0 win over Canada in Las Vegas, and the Americans again toppled their norther neighbors in Sunday's Gold Cup quarters — although this time, advancement required penalty shootout heroics by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Standing in the Americans' way of another final is a Panama side that obliterated guest team Qatar 4-0 in their quarter-final match. The Central Americans will be underdogs on Wednesday, but they'll be well-rested relative to the U.S. and full of confidence after their goalfest.
