One star has failed to truly fire so far at Old Trafford, but the former defender believes he will come good this term.

Mason Mount will earn his reputation as a £65 million man when he returns to full fitness at Manchester United, says former United defender Wes Brown.

The attacking midfielder made a big-money move to Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2023, but has struggled with injury issues ever since he stepped through the door.

Having lost form late on at Stamford Bridge, Mount's failure to regain his standing has cost him a once-regular place in the England national team too.

But Brown, who won five Premier League titles with United and played in their 2008 UEFA Champions League Final victory over the Blues, has backed Mount to finally deliver.

"I believe Mason Mount will repay faith in £65m Man United spent on him when he's fit," Brown told BoyleSports.

"Erik ten Hag played Mason Mount so he must be doing good things in training to get picked, but unfortunately his injury has slowed everything down.

"You just hope he gets back fit, gets a bit of luck and shows what he can do. You want it to be as fast as possible but the club have to take time with him now.

"When fit, I think United will get the most of the £65m paid for Mount."

Brown was speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Champions League betting.
